The head of the wine tasting team took us on a fascinating and informative cellar tour, explaining in simple terms the volume they produce and how often each barrel is used. One captivating detail we learned was about the women responsible for the sparkling wine, known as Cap Classique: every day, they meticulously turn the bottles 45 degrees to ensure the champagne-making process is executed flawlessly. This dedication to precision truly showcases the craftsmanship behind every bottle.
The wine tasting itself was a resounding success; we made friends with the couple seated next to us at the tasting table. Before we knew it, the four of us were enjoying an unexpected and delightful meal together, sharing plates of patatas bravas, fish tacos, and beef dumplings, all paired with an unforgettable bottle of Steenberg Merlot. As we savoured each bite and sip, new friendships blossomed through shared stories and laughter.
