Rediscover the beauty of the Western Cape’s protected areas during CapeNature’s 11th annual Access Week, running from 20 to 26 September 2025. For over a decade, this initiative has broken down barriers to natural spaces, and this year, it offers free day visitor entry to selected reserves across the province.
Whether it’s your first visit or a long-awaited return, Access Week is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the tranquillity, inspiration, and biodiversity that the Cape’s landscapes provide.
A Decade of Connection
CapeNature’s Access Week is about more than just free entry. The organisation continues to host guided nature-based programmes for community groups, following a five-step approach that helps individuals and families strengthen their bond with nature.
“We don’t just open the gates. We create lasting pathways to nature,” says Dr Ashley Naidoo, CEO of CapeNature. “Our guided programmes leave participants feeling seen, grounded, and reconnected. It’s about building a society that doesn’t just visit nature but understands they are part of it every day.”
Competitions and Creativity: Partnering with The Papery
To celebrate the 11th anniversary, CapeNature has partnered with The Papery to host a social media competition. For 11 days, one lucky participant will win a fynbos-themed stationery prize, with a grand prize Fynbos Jam Packed Stationery Box awarded on the final day.
To enter (19–29 September):
- Visit CapeNature and The Papery’s social media pages.
- Like and share the competition post.
- Describe in 11 words or less how nature makes you feel, or where you feel most connected to it.
