Find the Lost City, Petra

by Juhi

Deep within the red-rose cliffs of southern Jordan lies one of humanity’s most remarkable achievements: the ancient city of Petra, also known as the “Lost City”. As the crowning jewel of an extraordinary journey through Egypt and Jordan, this UNESCO World Heritage site stands as testament to the ingenuity and artistry of the Nabataean civilisation.

Your first glimpse of Petra, comes after walking through the Siq, a natural gorge whose towering walls seem to touch the sky. This dramatic entrance, over a kilometre long, builds anticipation with every step.

Then, as if by magic, the narrow passage opens to reveal Al-Khazneh – the Treasury. This 40-meter-high facade, carved entirely from the living rock, catches the morning light in hues of pink and gold. Its Hellenistic columns and intricate details have survived over two millennia, still capable of stopping visitors in their tracks with its sheer magnificence.

Petra is far more than just the Treasury. The ancient city spreads out before you, revealing the Royal Tombs, their facades etched into the mountainside like massive works of art. The grand Monastery, reached by climbing 800 steps, rewards the adventurous with even more spectacular views and architectural wonder.

This extraordinary site is the grand finale of an epic journey that begins in Egypt, where you’ll witness the grandeur of the Pyramids and cruise along the timeless Nile. From Cairo’s Islamic treasures to Luxor’s temple complexes and the Pharaonic tombs in the Valley of the Kings, from the Roman ruins of Jerash to the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, each destination builds upon the last, creating a tapestry of ancient wonders.

This remarkable journey through Egypt and Jordan, from 6 – 18 March 2025, offers more than just sightseeing. Let Petra’s timeless allure and the treasures of Egypt and Jordan become part of your story—a true voyage of discovery you’ll cherish forever.
