A Cheetah and four cubs

Central African Wilderness (CAWS) in Malawi tell us the rains have now eased, and with the onset of the dry season water levels in the magnificent Shire River and nearby waterholes are starting to drop, creating even better opportunities for game viewing.

With the drier and cooler winter season setting in the birding is superb with not only endemic species, but the migrants from the hotter climes begin to arrive in large numbers.

The really good news is the sighting of a cheetah with her four new cubs. Cheetah were re-introduced into Liwonde National Park after an absence of almost 20 years. They are doing very well as seen by this lovely photo taken by Daniel Badger of Mvuu Camp & Lodge.

Large herds of eland and roan antelope roam the lush green plateaus amongst the majestic hills of Nyika National Park. As the cooler nights are starting, there is nothing so inviting as knowing that after a full day hiking among the lush landscapes and forests of Nyika Plateau, that a roaring log fire is waiting for your return to Chelinda Lodge.
