Panthera Africa came to the attention of the Afrogem team when they visited the big cat sanctuary and met one of Panthera Africa’s founders, Catherine (or Cat as she is affectionately known), during an in-depth tour, and they knew they wanted to do more than simply support Panthera with a corporate donation. “Turning our big cat range of luxury jewellery into a vehicle to raise funds for Panthera was a no-brainer,” says Jess Hindley, an Afrogem Director.
Panthera Africa is an ethical safe haven that focuses on the welfare of the animals in their care rather than exploiting them for tourism, rescuing big cats and cubs from canned lion hunting, breeding farms and the exotic pet trade. Afrogem now donates 20% of online sales of their big cat jewellery (part of their African collection) directly to Panthera Africa. To further spread the word about the sanctuary and the amazing work they do to their followers, Afrogem used their popular Instagram quest to publicise Panthera Africa. The Afrogem Quest offers fantastic prizes to followers who can correctly guess each location, and will run for the rest of 2023. Afrogem is a proudly South African company loved by jewellery addicts all over the world, and there’s nothing they love more than supporting local tourism initiatives, especially ones like Panthera Africa with an ethical heart and soul.
Look for the Panthera Africa logo when buying jewellery on their website www.afrogem.co.za/pages/panthera-collab, and support the big cat sanctuary with heart.
