Cape Town’s beaches, known for making waves both literally and figuratively, have earned the city the title of ‘Best Beach Destination’ in the International Destinations Category at Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2024.
Presented at a gala in New Delhi last night, the award celebrates Cape Town’s breathtaking coastline, diverse beach experiences, and vibrant culture, which make it a top choice for travellers worldwide.
Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, reflects on the recognition:
“This award is perfectly timed as we welcome visitors this summer to experience our world-class beaches. Whether you’re here for the iconic white sands of Clifton, the surfer’s paradise at Muizenberg, or a sunset picnic at Camps Bay, Cape Town’s beaches have something for everyone. More Than Just a Pretty Shoreline
With eight Blue Flag beaches for the 2024/2025 season – Bikini Beach, Camps Bay, Clifton 4th, Fish Hoek, Llandudno, Melkbosstrand, Muizenberg, and Silwerstroomstrand – Cape Town’s beaches aren’t just beautiful: they’re also eco-friendly and community-supported.
Big upgrades are coming for Muizenberg Beachfront, with work kicking off in mid-February 2025 and wrapping up by the end of 2026. These changes will improve public spaces and coastal protection, making this much-loved Blue Flag beach even better for locals and visitors.
Cape Town’s beaches are designed to create unforgettable summer memories. Visitors can enjoy surfing lessons, kitesurfing, family-friendly beach days, sunset picnics, or simply strolls along the sand.

Cape Town Tourism remains focused on sustainability and inclusivity, ensuring that the city’s natural treasures are protected for future generations. Local beach clean-ups, led by passionate community members, highlight the city’s commitment to eco-friendly initiatives.
