Ceres Pure Adventures

by Tia

In the heart of the Witzenberg, lies the beautiful town of Ceres, a mere 90-minute drive from Cape Town. Surrounded by mountains and breath-taking passes – Ceres’ tranquil atmosphere makes it the ideal place to unwind. The Ceres Valley is geographically diverse and includes parts such as the Warm Bokkeveld, the Koue Bokkeveld and the open plains of the Tankwa Karoo – each with its own beautiful characteristics.

Ceres has a Mediterranean climate and this makes us the ideal outdoor and adventure destination. Besides ziplining and horse & carriage rides, there are also a variety of hiking & mountain bike trails, fishing and bird watching spots and also wildlife viewing opportunities. For those seeking a little adventure, Ceres definitely has you covered.

The town was founded in 1849 and with the discovery of diamonds inland, the road through Ceres became the highway to the North. At the local museum you will also learn more about the earthquake of 29 September 1969 and the meteor fall in the Koue Bokkeveld on 13 October 1838.

The Ceres valley produces some of the finest deciduous fruits in South Africa and is also well known for its fresh and dried fruit and fruit juices. During fruit season time, especially from the last weekend in November, visitors can pick their own cherries.

The Ceres area also offers a wide variety of accommodation ranging from luxury game reserves, guest houses, self-catering cottages to wooden chalets.

Come and experience the magic of Ceres!
